Ah yeah, my original WordPress (.com) account. I still like the title of this site although I barely sweeten my tea these days. I make fried chicken, okra, and mac n’ chess regularly. I logged in today doing maintenance on my online accounts. Wondering if I have anything interesting related to WordPress to add here. I still using WordPress on new projects. I’ve got two now going on that are on WordPress. Still don’t completely believe in ‘headless’ API sites, but I do like to do a lot of preprocessing work. I’ve built a couple Gutenberg plugins and custom blocks now. I do kinda wish that WordPress would move into using a more dynamic PHP templating system. What else about WordPress? There are also still some fundamental data queries that could be rewritten like wp_query. Otherwise, I’ll check back in on this site in a couple years. You can find me at

How you might “open source (almost) everything”

I think that “Open Sourcing” of private code is an inferior approach to writing it to be Open Source from the start. 🙂

… wondering why i’m getting some strange errors that seem to be related to the revision that borked the body class yesterday or soon there after – I’m unable to duplicate it consistently as some of my local copies are just dandy and other aren’t. It goes like this – with multi site enabled… if i set the permalinks as /%postname%/ and then edit them in ./ms-sites.php?action=editblog&id=1 , I get 404’s on all root blog posts and categories. When i return the permalinks to blog/whatever and blog/category (or if the root contains any other /directory/ between it and the /%postname%/ for that matter), than all is peachy. I’ve noticed it on two localhost sites that both had some custom taxonomies defined.. so i stripped the defined taxonmies and noticed that the nav is failing and not reporting any errors if you remove a previously defined taxonomy from your functions before removing it from the menu navigation. I think I’ll be able to figure it out, but thus far it’s eaten up a couple hours including this post, investigating the track, and comparing revisions. huh

I found a couple indespensible tools recently –
I’m happy with git, but I’m forced to use svn for most projects.. and while, I’m not very fond of buying software, but this one saves me a load of time.. worth every penny.
the main reason is that the diff files generated via textmate are cumbersome to navigate through since diffs appear within the same file…
Changes has a dual window sorta thing going on that gives me a GUI to navigate diffs quickly.
It supports coda, macrabbit expresso and textmate too.
    2) Colloquy for Iphone – for messaging without the associated fees of SMS.. just good ole’ IRC gone mobile.

So now.. the toolset is textmate, quicksilver, navicat , osx terminal, CSSedit and of course graphics stuff, but I still prefer working in Fireworks most of the time or for detailed work it’s Illustrator over Photoshop.
